About
Dr. Purnima Mehta, MD
Dr. Mehta, Ayurzona’s founder, has practiced psychiatric and psychoanalytical care worldwide with people of all ages over the past 20 years. During this time she has helped resolve emotional pain by establishing a therapeutic relationship, allowing a safe space to identify conflicts, elucidating the family roots of dysfunctionality, and clarifying the current manifestations of these conflicts. Subsequently more functional and adaptive coping skills can be consolidated. These treatments have been used for many emotional difficulties including trauma and abuse and limiting the need for prescription medication. Her specific interest includes dealing with children and adolescent difficulties and parent work.
Dr. Mehta is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, International Psychoanalytical Association and Association of Child Psychoanalysis. She is a graduate of the Seth G.S. Medical College at Bombay University in India and trained at Wayne State University in Psychiatry and Psychoanalytic studies at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. She has chaired committees at the national level and written extensively on cross-cultural issues. Along with her psychiatric background, she has obtained certification in Ayurvedic care and Yoga and is a practitioner of Vipassana meditation. Her work and travels all over the globe (including India, the U.K. and United States) have allowed her to gain access to world knowledge thereby giving “the best of both worlds” of treatment to her patients.
She also has done extensive work as a teacher, writer, and presenter. Her works have been published numerous times in publications such as The Freud Encyclopedia and American Academy of Psychoanalysis.

Dr. Meghana Thanki, ND
Dr. Thanki is passionate about the power of natural healing and the connection between the mind and body. After graduating from American University in Washington D.C. where she received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, she began to seek a career that combined her interests with the physiologic abilities of the human body and Eastern philosophies of medicine. These interests lead her to a career in Naturopathic medicine.
Dr. Thanki, a recent graduate of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, has gained extensive training in treating the body as a whole rather than symptom by symptom. Her approach involves listening empathically to patient concerns, identifying obstacles to spontaneous healing thus creatively tailoring an individualized treatment plan that allows for healing to occur at various levels. Treatment may include nutritional supplementation, acupuncture, homeopathy, lifestyle counseling and yoga. Dr. Thanki further trained in Ayurveda and has tremendous faith in the treatments that go along with this ancient form of medicine which include ayurvedic aromatherapy, shirodhara, and chakra balancing.
